Both Ultra-Value Dedicated and Ultra-Xeon Dedicated run on Dell PowerEdge rack servers Ultra owns outright. The racks sit in our own data center, the staff sit in the same building as the racks, and the spare parts inventory sits on the same loading dock. When a drive fails, a memory module degrades, or a NIC needs replacing, the fix happens in hours, not days, because nobody has to open a ticket with a third-party datacenter in another timezone.
Hardware ownership is the reason "fully managed" actually means fully managed at Ultra. Every dedicated server ships with ECC memory, hardware RAID1, dual redundant power feeds, and Cisco-grade networking on the same backbone as our shared and VPS infrastructure. The hardware monitoring stack watches drive SMART data, RAID array health, PSU status, NIC link state, and temperatures continuously.
Unlike Ultra's Managed VPS (which is KVM-virtualized), the dedicated configurations on this page are bare metal. There is no hypervisor between your operating system and the hardware. You get the full processor, the full memory bus, the full storage controller, and the full network interface. There is no other tenant sharing the chassis with you.
What that means in practice: predictable performance through traffic spikes (no neighbor-tenant CPU storms), deterministic disk I/O (no shared storage controller queue), and full control over BIOS-level settings like hyperthreading, NUMA, power profile, and boot order on request. The server is yours alone, period.
Even though Ultra manages the server, every dedicated server ships with full root access via SSH. Install custom software, compile Apache modules, run cron jobs, configure services, drop in your own SSH public keys, and edit any config file on the box. Your server, your rules. We are here as backup, not as a gatekeeper.
For the day-to-day, every dedicated server comes with cPanel + Web Host Manager (WHM). WHM is the server-administration interface on top of cPanel: spin up unlimited individual cPanel accounts (one per customer, one per site, however you want to slice it), assign DNS zones, set per-account resource limits, configure server-wide PHP settings, install SSL certificates, manage mail server policy, and review logs.
On Ultra-Xeon Dedicated, cPanel + WHM is included by default. On Ultra-Value Dedicated, cPanel + WHM is available and recommended (and typically bundled in at order time). Either way, you get the flexibility of a real Linux server (root + SSH) plus the operator-friendly tooling that runs most of the web.
Both dedicated configurations ship with 1 TB of hardware RAID1 storage. RAID1 mirrors every write to two physical drives so that a single-drive failure does not interrupt service: the failed drive is hot-swapped by Ultra's on-site team and the array rebuilds in the background while the server stays online. There is no application-visible outage during a drive replacement.
The RAID controller is a real hardware controller (battery-backed write cache on Ultra-Xeon, write-through on Ultra-Value), not software RAID running off the CPU. Drive SMART data is monitored continuously and a degraded array opens a ticket automatically; on-site spare drives mean replacement happens within the same business day in most cases.
RAID1 protects against drive failure, not against accidental delete, ransomware, or application-level data loss. That's what backups are for. JetBackup is available for cPanel account-level backup with restore points; we recommend pairing it with an additional offsite backup for business-critical data.
Ultra's data center operations team works in the same building as the racks. When you open a ticket about a server, the first responder is usually the engineer who can fix it, not a triage layer that escalates to a different team in a different timezone. Average first-response on live chat and tickets is 12 minutes, 24/7.
That on-site model is why dedicated hardware ownership matters. A drive replacement, a kernel update, a firewall change, an IP reassignment, a hardware diagnostic, a console boot, an OS reinstall, all happen as a ticket rather than a multi-vendor coordination exercise. Ultra carries spare parts inventory on-site, so hardware replacement typically happens in hours rather than days.
If your sites are already hosted somewhere, our technicians will migrate them to your new dedicated server at no charge. The standard case is cPanel-to-cPanel migration: cPanel account exports preserve files, databases, email, DNS zones, SSL certificates, and cron jobs as a single bundle, and our team restores them onto your new server account by account.
For sites coming from non-cPanel hosts (Plesk, DirectAdmin, a custom LAMP setup, a managed-WordPress provider), we handle the file and database transfer manually and rebuild the cPanel configuration on the receiving side. The new copy is staged under a temporary URL for testing, then we coordinate the DNS cutover to minimize downtime.
Reseller migrations (a few dozen to a few hundred cPanel accounts) are well-suited to Ultra-Xeon Dedicated and handled by the migration team in batches. Open a ticket after order with the source server credentials and our team handles the rest.
DDoS protection on a dedicated server sits in three layers. Network-edge filtering at the carrier level absorbs volumetric attacks before they reach the server. CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall) with LFD (Login Failure Daemon) runs on the server itself: brute-force protection on SSH, FTP, mail, and cPanel; port-flood limits to soften DDoS attempts; geoblock lists for high-abuse ASNs; and automatic temporary blocks for repeated bad behavior. CloudFlare CDN integration via cPanel adds an optional always-on edge layer with DDoS protection and bot mitigation in front of the server.
The network side runs on a Cisco backbone with redundant uplinks. Ultra-Value Dedicated ships with 1 TB monthly bandwidth and Ultra-Xeon Dedicated ships with 3 TB. Both are on dedicated public uplinks with no oversold capacity. Customers with heavier traffic can negotiate higher caps, including dedicated 1 Gbps unmetered uplinks; open a ticket with the expected traffic profile.
A Managed VPS is the right home for the vast majority of sites that have outgrown shared hosting. The upgrade signals from VPS to Ultra-Value Dedicated are usually one of these: sustained CPU or RAM saturation on the largest VPS tier, multi-tenant reseller hosting at several-hundred-cPanel-accounts scale, or a need to control the full chassis (BIOS, kernel, full network interface) without a hypervisor in the way.
The upgrade signal from Ultra-Value Dedicated to Ultra-Xeon Dedicated is workload size: when 3 GHz dual-core and 4 GB RAM are no longer enough for the concurrent process load. Typical drivers are large reseller workloads with hundreds of cPanel accounts, application servers running large MariaDB instances with in-memory caches, or build pipelines that need 16 cores of parallel compute headroom.
Migration between configurations is handled by Ultra at no charge. Open a ticket and our team will provision the new server, migrate the cPanel accounts, schedule the DNS cutover, and decommission the old server.
Specific questions our sales and migration teams field every week on the dedicated configurations. If yours isn't here, drop us a line.
Ultra-Value Dedicated runs a 3 GHz dual-core processor with 4 GB RAM and 1 TB hardware RAID1 storage on a Dell PowerEdge chassis, billed from $99.95/mo. Ultra-Xeon Dedicated runs dual 2.5 GHz Xeon 8-core processors (16 physical cores total) with 16 GB RAM and the same 1 TB hardware RAID1 layout on a Dell PowerEdge chassis, billed from $222.95/mo. Both ship with cPanel + WHM, full root, dedicated IPs, vanity nameservers, hardware monitoring, and full management by Ultra. The choice is workload size: pick Ultra-Value for moderate cPanel workloads, pick Ultra-Xeon for high-concurrency reseller or application workloads that need 16 cores and 16 GB RAM.
Both Ultra-Value Dedicated and Ultra-Xeon Dedicated ship fully managed by default. Ultra's on-site team handles OS patching, kernel updates, CSF firewall tuning, Imunify-AV + Maldet malware scanning, cPanel + WHM updates, log rotation, certificate provisioning, hardware monitoring, and on-call response. You keep full root for anything you want to handle yourself. Unmanaged configurations are available on request for customers who specifically want only the bare-metal layer; open a ticket before order to confirm.
Dedicated server setup is typically completed the same business day after order verification, since we keep a small ready-pool of provisioned hardware. Setup includes OS install, cPanel + WHM (where requested), CSF firewall tuning, Imunify-AV + Maldet install, vanity nameserver configuration, dedicated IP assignment, and basic hardening. You'll get an email with WHM root login details and SSH credentials when the server is online.
Yes. Standard dedicated server orders run AlmaLinux 64-bit with cPanel + WHM, which covers the majority of cPanel hosting workloads. Other distributions (Ubuntu LTS, Debian, Rocky Linux, CloudLinux) are available on request, either at order time or as a reload later. Out-of-band reinstall is supported on customer request through our on-site team since we own and operate the racks.
AlmaLinux 64-bit is the default for cPanel + WHM workloads, and CloudLinux is available as an upgrade for reseller and multi-tenant cPanel servers. Custom OS configurations (other AlmaLinux versions, Ubuntu LTS, Debian, Rocky Linux) are supported on request. Just open a ticket before deployment and our team will provision accordingly.
Out-of-band hardware management is handled by Ultra's on-site staff since the racks are in our own data center. Customers who need direct IPMI / iDRAC access for a specific workload can request it during deployment; Ultra exposes it on a private out-of-band interface with VPN access controlled by ticket. For most customers, having Ultra's team a few steps from the hardware (24/7) replaces the need for IPMI: kernel panic, reboot, drive swap, console access all happen as a support ticket rather than a customer-driven out-of-band session.
Ultra-Value Dedicated ships with 1 TB monthly bandwidth on its dedicated public uplink, and Ultra-Xeon Dedicated ships with 3 TB monthly bandwidth. Both run on the Cisco backbone with no oversold uplinks. Heavier workloads can negotiate higher bandwidth caps, including dedicated 1 Gbps unmetered uplinks; open a ticket with the expected traffic profile and our team will quote.
Yes. Both dedicated server configurations ship with multiple dedicated IPv4 addresses (typically 6 IPs by default). Additional IPv4 addresses are available on request, with ARIN-style justification documented in the ticket. IPv6 blocks are also available on request. Each IP is yours alone, so mail-server reputation, SSL termination, and firewall rules are not shared with anyone else.
Yes. Additional IPv4 addresses are available on top of the default block, subject to standard justification. Open a support ticket describing the use case (per-domain SSL on a large hosting workload, dedicated mail-out IPs, separate firewall zones, IP rotation for outbound services) and our team will allocate and route the additional IPs to your server.
Yes. Because Ultra owns and operates the dedicated hardware, RAM and disk upgrades are straightforward. Open a support ticket with what you need and we'll quote the upgrade plus schedule a brief maintenance window. Common upgrades include moving from the Ultra-Value 4 GB base to higher RAM tiers, adding additional drives, swapping to SSD-only storage, and moving from the dual-core base to a Xeon configuration.
Always-on network-edge DDoS mitigation filters volumetric attacks at the carrier level before traffic reaches the dedicated server. CSF on the server itself rate-limits suspicious traffic, soft-blocks port floods, and integrates with the LFD daemon for brute-force protection. Customers who want a third edge layer can enable the free CloudFlare CDN integration via cPanel, which adds always-on DDoS protection and bot mitigation in front of the server.
All of Ultra's dedicated servers live in our own data center on hardware Ultra owns and operates. On-site staff are the only people with physical access. Cisco networking backbone with redundant uplinks, dual power feeds with UPS battery backup, hardware RAID1 storage, and 24/7 monitoring are standard across the dedicated fleet. We do not resell capacity from third-party datacenters or hyperscalers.
Ultra guarantees 99.9% network uptime on dedicated server plans, backed by redundant power, dual Cisco network feeds, and hardware RAID1 on every server. The dedicated plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee on the hosting service. Domain registration fees and setup fees on custom builds are non-refundable since they're paid to the registry or vendor on your behalf.
Yes. The $49.95 standard setup fee on both Ultra-Value Dedicated and Ultra-Xeon Dedicated is waived during the current promotion with code FREEDEDICATEDSETUP at checkout. Apply the code on the cart page to get free setup. Custom configurations are quoted individually and the setup fee is included in the quoted total when there is one.
Yes. cPanel + WHM include the standard cPanel mail server stack (Exim + Dovecot + SpamAssassin) with full DKIM, SPF, and DMARC support. The dedicated IPs mean your mail-server reputation is yours alone, not shared with other accounts. Heavy outbound mail workloads should still warm up the IP gradually and follow standard deliverability hygiene; our team can help with reputation setup and PTR records.
Yes. With cPanel + WHM on a dedicated server you can spin up unlimited cPanel accounts, each hosting one or more websites. The practical limit is the server's CPU, RAM, disk, and bandwidth budget, not an account count. Reseller and multi-tenant workloads typically pair Ultra-Xeon Dedicated with CloudLinux for CageFS account isolation and LVE resource limits per cPanel account.
Hardware RAID1 protects against single-drive failure with no service interruption: the failed drive is hot-swapped by Ultra's on-site team and the RAID rebuilds in the background. For other hardware failures (memory module, PSU, NIC, mainboard), Ultra carries spare parts on-site, so replacement happens in hours rather than days. Customers are notified of the failure, the replacement timeline, and any required reboot window through the ticket system.
Hardware RAID1 protects from single-drive failure at the storage layer. For account-level backup we offer JetBackup on dedicated server plans, which gives scheduled backups with restore points and one-click restores of individual files, databases, email, or whole cPanel accounts via WHM. We always recommend an additional offsite backup as defense-in-depth, particularly for business-critical workloads.
The usual signals are sustained CPU or RAM pressure on Ultra-Value (the 3 GHz dual-core and 4 GB RAM are right-sized for moderate cPanel workloads), several-hundred-cPanel-account reseller setups that want more concurrent process headroom, or specific application workloads (large MariaDB instances, in-memory caches, build pipelines) that benefit from the dual 8-core Xeon and 16 GB RAM in Ultra-Xeon. Migration from Ultra-Value to Ultra-Xeon is handled by Ultra at no charge.
A VPS is a KVM-virtualized slice of a physical server with dedicated CPU, RAM, and SSD on shared hardware. A dedicated server is the entire physical machine, reserved for your use alone. VPS is right for growing sites and small reseller workloads; dedicated is right for high-traffic workloads, large multi-tenant reseller hosting, custom hardware needs, or regulatory single-tenancy requirements. Ultra's VPS specifications live on the VPS Hosting page.
Yes. If Ultra-Value Dedicated and Ultra-Xeon Dedicated don't match your needs, contact us and we'll put together a custom configuration with the CPU, RAM, storage, NIC, and software stack your project requires. Since we own our hardware and data center, we have the flexibility to build to spec, including higher-core Xeons, large RAM allocations, NVMe storage, dedicated 1 Gbps unmetered uplinks, and custom RAID layouts.
