Is Weebly shutting down?
Weebly is winding down in 67 countries. Weebly has told resellers that no new websites can be published from those countries after October 4, 2026, and that currently published sites for sellers based in those countries will be unpublished on January 2, 2027. Weebly Cloud continues to operate in 100-plus other geographies. Separately, Weebly as a product has been in maintenance mode for years with no meaningful feature updates since its 2018 acquisition by Square, so many owners in unaffected countries are also choosing to move to a platform they control.
What happens to my Weebly site on January 2, 2027?
If your business is based in one of the 67 affected countries, your published Weebly site is scheduled to be unpublished on January 2, 2027, which means visitors will no longer be able to reach it. Before that date you should export your site content from Weebly and rebuild it on hosting you control. Do not wait until the deadline: export your Weebly archive now so you have a local copy regardless of timing.
How do I export or back up my Weebly site?
In the Weebly editor, go to Settings, then General, then scroll to the Archive section and click Archive Site. Weebly emails you a link to download a ZIP archive of your site's static HTML, images, and assets. Reseller and Weebly Cloud users can do this from Weebly Cloud Home by selecting the site, then Edit Site, then Settings, then General, then Archive. For a more complete copy that includes individual blog posts, also crawl your live site with a tool like HTTrack or SiteSucker. The archive is a one-way export and cannot be re-imported into Weebly.
Can you automatically transfer my Weebly site to Ultra Web Hosting?
No, and no host can, because Weebly is a closed builder with no cPanel and no automated export that other platforms can import. There is no one-click Weebly-to-WordPress importer that moves everything. What we offer instead is guided migration: our team helps you archive your Weebly content, set up WordPress or static hosting on your Ultra account, move your pages and images across, rebuild forms, transfer or repoint your domain, and set up 301 redirects so your search rankings carry over. You are never doing it alone.
Will I lose my content when I leave Weebly?
Not if you export first. Your text, images, and page layouts can be captured from the Weebly archive and by crawling your live site. Some things do not export cleanly: contact forms are tied to Weebly's backend, individual blog posts are often missing from the archive, and store or e-commerce data tied to Square is limited. Our team helps you rebuild those pieces on your new site. The whole point of migrating is that once you are on Ultra Web Hosting, every file lives on your account and you own it outright.
What about my domain that is registered with Weebly or Square?
You have two options. If your domain is registered through Weebly or Square, unlock it in your dashboard, get the authorization (EPP) code, and transfer the registration to Ultra Web Hosting or any registrar you prefer. If your domain is registered elsewhere and just points at Weebly, you only need to update its nameservers or A record to point at your new Ultra Web Hosting account. Either way the domain keeps working, and the team gives you the exact values to use.
Will my search rankings drop after I move off Weebly?
They should not, as long as you map your old URLs to the new ones and set up 301 redirects. Weebly uses URLs like /about.html and /blog/post-title. On your new site you recreate those pages and add 301 redirects in .htaccess so old links and search engine results land on the right page. Keep your page titles and content intact, submit a new sitemap to Google Search Console, and rankings typically carry over. Our team walks you through the redirect setup as part of the guided migration.
Can I move my Weebly online store?
Yes, though it is the most hands-on part of the move. Weebly e-commerce data (products, orders, customers) is tied to Square's backend and does not export cleanly. Plan to save product names, descriptions, prices, images, and SKUs. On your new site, WooCommerce on WordPress supports CSV import so you can bulk-load products from a spreadsheet rather than entering them one by one. Start this early: it is the most time-consuming piece of an e-commerce migration.
I have Weebly through Ultra Web Hosting. What should I do?
If your Weebly site was provided through Ultra Web Hosting and your business is in one of the 67 affected countries, the same January 2, 2027 timeline applies. The good news is you are already an Ultra customer, so moving to a hosting plan on your existing account is straightforward. Open a support ticket and mention that you are on Weebly through Ultra. The team will help you export your site and set up WordPress or static hosting on your account, and can advise on plan and timing.
