How quickly is my upgrade activated?
Most upgrades are activated within a few hours of your order. Dedicated IPs and SSL installations are completed by our team within the same business day. Domain ID Protection and DNS changes propagate within minutes. Consultations are scheduled at a time that works for you.
How is billing handled when I add an upgrade mid-cycle?
All upgrades are billed pro-rated to your existing account renewal date, so you don't get hit with a separate billing cycle. The pro-rated charge reflects only the portion of the period until your next renewal. After that, the upgrade renews on the same date as your hosting account.
Can I add upgrades to an existing hosting account?
Yes. All upgrades on this page can be added to any active Ultra hosting account. Place the order through your client area at my.ultrawebhosting.com and we'll activate the upgrade against your existing account. No new account needed.
Do I need a dedicated IP for an SSL certificate?
Not usually. Modern browsers and servers support SNI, which lets multiple SSL certificates share a single IP address. You only need a dedicated IP for SSL if you're targeting very old browsers (Windows XP IE), some legacy SSL configurations, or specific third-party integrations that require it.
What does Hacker Guardian scan for?
Hacker Guardian is a daily automated site scanner that checks for malware, server vulnerabilities, SSL configuration issues, and common compliance gaps. It also includes a trust seal you can display on your site to show visitors your site has been scanned and is monitored.
Can I cancel an upgrade later?
Yes. Recurring upgrades (Dedicated IP, Domain ID Protection, SSL, Hacker Guardian) can be cancelled at any time through your client area. The upgrade remains active through the end of the current billing period. One-time upgrades (Heavy Custom DNS) and hourly (Consultation) don't recur.
